Dewitt Stuckey, ranked No. 48 in the West by Scout.com, says he's definitely taking an official visit to Oregon, but hasn't set up a date yet. "I like their environment," he said. "It's very calm and the people there are great. It's a relaxed atmosphere and it's not all crazy and fast-paced. Also, they play true freshman a lot and I'd be able to play early..."

Dewitt Stuckey, the 6-foot, 215-pound three-star linebacker from Lincoln High School in Stockton (Calif.), says he has 16 scholarship offers and has already set up an official visit to Georgia Tech on September 15.

"Georgia Tech is a great African-American school," Stuckey said. "They've produced a lot of successful black men and it's a great environment to be in. Plus they are in a great area and get their players great exposure. I love how they marketed Calvin Johnson last year."

Stuckey, ranked No. 48 in the West by Scout.com, says he's also definitely taking an official visit to Oregon, but hasn't set up a date yet. "I like their environment," he said. "It's very calm and the people there are great. It's a relaxed atmosphere and it's not all crazy and fast-paced. Also, they play true freshman a lot and I'd be able to play early. They are still building up and I'd like to help them win a championship."

Although Stuckey says he's still wide open, he admits to favoring Oregon slightly over Oregon State, California, Georgia Tech, Arizona and Arizona State. All of his favorites have offered as well as Washington, Washington State, Boise State, Northwestern, San Diego State and others.

"The things I'm looking for are environment and location," he said. "I want to find a school with great academics and tradition and I'd like to be able to play right away. If I can find all that in a school that isn't too far away, that would be ideal.

"I'm gonna try to decide on a school during the season," Stuckey said. "I don't want to wait. I'll have my five visits set before the season starts. I don't want to have a lot of schools calling me during the season."

Two schools that he's also thinking about visiting in the fall are Arizona and Arizona State. "I like the linebacker coach at Arizona (Tim Kish) because he's easy to talk to and an understanding guy. I also know a few guys who go there from this area and I like how they are an up-and-coming team. They seem to be improving every year."

He reports a 3.0 core GPA and an 840 SAT. He retook the SAT on June 2 and is awaiting his results.
