Mack Makes His Pick

Perhaps the best prospect in New England came off the board yesterday when Stratford, Conn., native Torrey Mack gave his verbal pledge to Virginia during a visit to the campus this Saturday. Mack was recently given a four-star rating by experts at Scout.com and gives the Cavaliers a great young running back.

According to Jerry Ratcliffe of The Daily Progress in Virginia, Stratford, Conn., standout Torrey Mack gave his verbal commitment to the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday during a visit to the campus. Mack held offers from Connecticut, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Florida, Penn State, Boston College, Iowa, Syracuse and Maryland, but in the end Virginia was the choice for the 6-foot, 190-pound running back.

“I got down there Saturday morning and was there about five hours, and obviously I liked what I saw,” Mack said. “I visited down there last February and Virginia has been my leader ever since. I just feel comfortable there.”

“I was excited to get the recruiting process over so I can concentrate on football,” Mack said. “Coach Groh told me I had enough talent to start right away, but that it would be up to me. I like their offense because they like to run the ball.”
