Millburn, N.J., native David Stevens already holds four written scholarship offers from Army, Akron, Purdue and New Hampshire and has a handful of other programs from the eastern part of the country recruiting him. We caught up with the tight end to talk about each of his offers and which schools he favors.

David Stevens, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound tight end from Millburn Senior High School in Millburn, N.J., has already been offered by Army, Akron, Purdue and New Hampshire and is being recruited by many others. This was the first time we at Scout.com have caught up with Stevens, so there was much to catch up on, however Stevens filled us in on his current picture.

“I have those four offers from Army, Akron, Purdue and New Hampshire right now and am hoping for more soon,” Stevens said. “I also am being recruited consistently right now by schools like Boston College, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia, Connecticut, Temple and Pittsburgh off the top of my head.”

Army - “I picked up that offer last month and had always thought about joining the armed services football or not, so I was honored to have received it. They have a great tradition at West Point and it’s just a very prestigious school. I have always respected people in the services and both of my grandfathers were in them, one an Air Force pilot and the other an Army drill sergeant in World War II.”

Purdue - “Coach (Lou) Anarumo is my recruiter from Purdue and we talked once in a while just so he can keep me up to date on what’s happening there. He’s a pretty cool guy and I know Purdue is big on the sciences which is important to me because I love them. I don’t know what I want to do yet, but I may want to be a doctor, so having a program strong in the sciences would be very good.”

Akron - “I saw Coach (Mike) Dawson at Ohio State camp last Sunday and actually got to meet the entire staff while I was there. Their head coach (J.D. Brookhart) seems like a really cool, laid back guy and Coach Dawson is a big jokester. I just got an offer from them recently.”

New Hampshire - “I visited New Hampshire a while back and they have a very nice campus with a lot going on around it. I liked it there and am open to playing at any level, so the fact that they are not an I-A program means very little to me.”

Boston College - “I visited Boston College a while back and really liked it there a lot too. Boston is a really cool city because you have so many colleges in the area with so many students to socialize with. There is just so much to do up there and they have good academics, so I have interest there.”

Syracuse - “My brother goes to Syracuse right now and my father is a Syracuse graduate, so I have some ties there obviously. I know they have a great communications school and have visited there a few times. They have some long winters up in Syracuse, that is for sure.”

Connecticut - “I talk with Coach (Scott) Lakatos pretty often through email and we have gotten to know each other fairly well through that. I took a visit to Connecticut in February and really liked it up there.”

As a junior, Stevens caught 28 passes for 455 yards and five touchdowns from his tight end position. He also added 33 tackles and four sacks at defensive end. For his efforts, he was named first-team All-County, All-Conference and All-Area.

Stevens reports a max bench press of 280 pounds, a max squat of 450, a max hang clean of 245 and a max dead lift of 505 pounds.

Stevens carries a 3.0 core GPA and took both the SAT and ACT tests in June of 2007.
