The Midland Region is back this year, and it is a nice year for a return as it is ripe with talent. Last month we released a Top 50 from the region, but after further evaluation and the addition of Iowa we have expanded the rankings to include 100 players. | |||
Scout.com Midlands 100Not much has changed at the top as linebacker Arthur Brown from Kansas and linebacker Jon Major from Colorado still sit atop of the rankings. As a matter of fact the whole top five has remained the same as Blaine Gabbert, Jameel Owens, and Nolan Brewster continue to hold strong. The linebacker position is not the only position that is deep at the top of the rankings, as there are many talented offensive linemen in the region as well. The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Head Coach Bill Callahan are up to their old tricks as they have secured commitments from the top four linemen in Bryce Givens, Trevor Robinson, Baker Steinkuhler and Dan Hoch. The surprise position this year in many of the regions has to be at tight end, and the Midlands are no exception. One-fourth of the top 16 are tight ends with Missouri’s Andrew Jones and Spencer Ladner leading the way. The player who probably made the biggest rise through the rankings is North County High linebacker Will Compton who has exploded with a number of big offers after impressing scouts and coaches on the combine circuit.
