Fleming Talks Camps

Isaiah Fleming may not be the biggest or fastest guy on the field at any given time, however if you can count on one thing from the versatile athlete it’s that he plays with his hair on fire for four straight quarters. Recruiting has been a bit slow for Fleming as of late, but he is hoping it picks up soon.

At first glance Isaiah Fleming may come off as a bit too small to get the job done, however when you turn on the film and watch him play, the 5-foot-11, 206-pound athlete really gets the job done. Fleming can be a punishing hitter at times, flies all over the field and is a playmaker, however the New Castle, Del., product can be a bit undisciplined at times which is something he knows he needs to work on.

“I just want to make plays so bad that sometimes I take chances that I shouldn’t, so I am trying to learn to play smarter right now,” Fleming said. “My team just won a seven-on-seven tournament at Delcastle High School and they had me play running back, wide receiver, linebacker and cornerback. Most of the teams we played were from New Jersey and they had some big, physical receivers, so they put me out there to jam them and use my speed to keep up which worked well.”

Schools like UCLA, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Temple, Syracuse, Rutgers, and Ole Miss have all been in contact with Fleming over the past several months, however he has yet to really speak to any of the coaches from those schools. He plans to start calling recruiters this month to make a first contact and go from there.

“I’m going to be camping at Temple this Saturday,” Fleming stated. “I haven’t spoken to the staff yet, but they invited me through email and I will definitely be going down there. I know people talk about how Temple hasn’t won much lately, but they have a new staff and have put players into the league anyway. Look at the Super Bowl this year and I think Indianapolis had two Temple players. Philly is also close to home which is a plus.”

“Syracuse is another school that invited me up to camp, but I am taking extra courses over the summer at William Penn, so I won’t be able to make it to that camp,” Fleming explained. “I have a friend that went to Syracuse that has said good things about it there and it is cold which I like. They also have good tradition, nice uniforms and a great stadium, so I am going to try and visit there soon.”

“Virginia Tech and Ole Miss have been sending me texts asking me to call them lately, so I am going to get on that soon,” Fleming added.

Fleming earned First Team All-Conference honors as a junior.
