Phoenixville, Pa., native Rob Lohr is being recruited by a number of schools on both sides of the ball and has already picked up his first written scholarship offer from nearby Temple University. Lohr has been to two camps this summer and has plans to attend his third this week at Syracuse.
Rob Lohr
, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound athlete from Phoenixville Area High School in Phoenixville, Pa., has already camped at
Vanderbilt
and
Temple
and holds a scholarship offer from the latter at this point. He plans to camp at
Syracuse
this Thursday and while many prospects are worried about winning percentages and BCS appearances, Lohr has his focus almost solely on academics.
“Right now I have one written scholarship offer from Temple and am waiting to hear back from Vanderbilt to see if I have another,” Lohr said. “I am also planning to camp at Syracuse on Thursday and like that they offer great academics, good tradition and a tight end heavy offensive scheme.
Connecticut
,
Pittsburgh
,
Rutgers
, Harvard and Penn have also been recruiting me and I am seriously considering the Ivy League programs as well.”
“I went to Vanderbilt for camp and worked out at tight end for the morning session and then at defensive end for the afternoon session,” Lohr explained. “The coaching staff really liked me at both, but said they would probably prefer me at defensive end, so they told me they would be letting me know within the next two weeks if I had a scholarship offer to go to school there. It was really amazing down there as the campus was beautiful, the facilities were very nice and the academic situation at Vanderbilt is excellent.”
“Temple had a much nicer campus then I thought they would and are an up and coming program right now with the new coaching staff,” Lohr stated. “They said I could probably start as a freshman at tight end and told me I was the top tight end on their board right now. Their new technical center is very nice and during lunch I stopped by the honors program building where I would be taking classes to look around. The Fox School of Business is very good, so that is appealing to me.”
“I went to Connecticut for a basketball game this year and thought the facilities were outstanding there,” Lohr added. “I was scheduled for a return visit, but after speaking to a friend whose daughter attended the school I was told that it is a big suitcase school, so I am not sure that is the type of place I am looking to go to school.”
As a junior, Lohr caught 17 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns in a run-oriented offense for Phoenixville. He also added 58 tackles and five sacks from his defensive end position.
Lohr is home schooled and does not actually attend Phoenixville High School. He reports a 3.71 core GPA and is currently in his third semester at Montgomery County Community College where he has already earned 16 college credits. By the time he is ready to attend college he will have accrued 32 college credits. He reported an 1180 on his first SAT attempt, but will re-take the test as he was not satisfied with his first score.
