Decision Could Be Near for Lohr

Rob Lohr picked up his second offer of the week today when the Vanderbilt coaching staff came knocking. The Phoenixville, Pa., product now holds three total offers and the latest from the Commodores puts them right at the top of his list along with Syracuse and Harvard.
Rob Lohr
hoped after visiting
Vanderbilt
for camp earlier this month that the coaching staff would eventually offer him a scholarship offer to come join the program and earlier today he picked up that offer. Lohr now holds offers from
Temple
, Vanderbilt and
Syracuse
and we caught up with the 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end earlier this afternoon to talk about the latest.
“Vanderbilt just let me know a few minutes ago that I had a scholarship offer to come play for them,” Lohr said. “They said that they are offering me at defensive end, but in reality it will be as a tight end so they can figure out which they like me better at down the road. It has obviously been an exciting couple of days with the Syracuse offer yesterday and now this today.”
“This is an offer that I have definitely been waiting for since my visit there,” Lohr explained. “They have been near the top of my list since I was down and saw how beautiful the campus was. I just loved the environment there and the coaching staff and facilities were both outstanding. I know that Vanderbilt doesn’t have a straight up business degree, but they do offer an economics degree which is similar and I believe they have a graduate school for business, although I need to double check that.”
The excitement for the Phoenixville High School athlete was quite obvious upon speaking to him and we probed to see if a commitment could be expected anytime soon.
“Like I said, I was really waiting for this and I am definitely considering committing, however I need to step back, not rush into anything and consult with my parents and coaches before I do anything,” Lohr stated. “This is the biggest choice I have ever had to make in my life and one that will affect me for decades, so I want to make sure I make the right one and not force anything. I really like what Syracuse and Vanderbilt have to offer and may take a visit to Harvard this weekend. I think talking to the Harvard coaching staff will give me a better idea of how I feel, so we’ll see what happens over the next week or so.”
As a junior, Lohr caught 17 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns in a run-oriented offense for Phoenixville. He also added 58 tackles and five sacks from his defensive end position.
Lohr is home schooled and does not actually attend Phoenixville High School. He reports a 3.71 core GPA and is currently in his third semester at Montgomery County Community College where he has already earned 16 college credits. By the time he is ready to attend college he will have accrued 32 college credits. He reported an 1180 on his first SAT attempt, but will re-take the test as he was not satisfied with his first score.
