Kenneth Page, the 6-foot-3.5, 290-pound four-star offensive lineman from Flora High School in Columbia, S.C., says he still hasn't narrowed down his list. With 37 scholarship offers, he's got a lot to think about.
"I want to have it narrowed down by the end of the summer," Page said. "I'll commit wherever I'm comfortable, but I'm looking for a school with a good academic program and a place with good coaches and fans that support the team."
Although Page, ranked No. 49 in the Southeast by Scout.com, denies a favorite, he grew up following Florida State. "I just liked watching them play," he said. "I like the legacy that coach Bobby Bowden has and that it's just a great school overall."
Along with the Seminoles, Page also likes Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Notre Dame.
All of his favorites have offered as well as Boston College, North Carolina State, Auburn, Duke, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Virginia, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Penn State, West Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, Stanford and Vanderbilt, among others.
His first scholarship offer came during the summer of his sophomore year from Clemson. The Tigers are only about two hours from his house. "I've been up there many times and I'm very familiar with them," Page said. "They have a good winning team that is still improving. They also have a very good business program and I want to major in finance in college."
Only 15 minutes from Page's house is South Carolina, but he says distance won't be a factor. "I like the direction of the program," Page said. "It's also a nice campus and I'm really comfortable there. It's just a nice environment to be in."
Page has visited nearly every school in his top seven already and was especially impressed by Tennessee. "It's a beautiful area to be in," he said. "I love the mountains and the whole environment is great. And the football program speaks for itself."
Page hasn't seen Notre Dame yet, but would like too. "They have it all," he exclaimed. "The football program is incredible and they have a great coach. I really like coach Charlie Weis. Also, from the pictures I've seen of the campus, it looks very beautiful."
Page says he can bench 360 pounds, squat 480 and runs the forty in 5.1. He also has a 26-inch vertical jump.
"I'm quick for my size and move well," Page said. "I play until the whistle blows and just do what I'm supposed to do.
"I want to improve my pass blocking and get more consistent throughout the entire game."
He reports a 3.8 core GPA and a 1060 SAT. Wants to major in finance.
