Delano Howell, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound three-star athlete (running back/defensive back) from Hart High School in Newhall, Calif., has received a scholarship offer from Washington, which is where is brother (Dan Howell) plays linebacker.

"Dan gives me advice, but it's all the typical stuff," Howell admitted. "He says to be patient, take my time and make sure I get to know the coaches well before I decide.

"I really want to get it off my shoulders though," he said. "I feel like I want to get it over with before the end of summer. You never know what can happen and I don't want to get into a situation where they run out of scholarships or something."

Howell's already visited each of his favorites and doesn't plan to go to any other camps this summer. "I see a lot of strengths in each of these schools," he said. "It's going to be a tough decision.

"I really like coach Ty Willingham (at Washington) a lot too," he said. "He's a great person and he's real honest and straightforward. He really tries to build character in his players."

He says that the Huskies are recruiting him as a running back, while the Bruins and Cardinal are both saying athlete. "The coaches at Stanford seem real nice too. I have a good relationship with (linebacker coach) Andy Buh."

Howell reports a 4.4 core GPA and a 1710 SAT.
