October Decision?

"Notre Dame is recruiting me the hardest," Carlton Thomas said. "They check on me like every day and text me all the time. I love the school and the education. It's a great program and they have great coaches. They all have a lot of experience and know how to produce great players." The only schools that Thomas has already visited unofficially are Clemson and Georgia. Auburn's camp is coming up.

Carlton Thomas, the 5-foot-7, 175-pound four-star running back from Frostproof Middle High School (Fla.), now has approximately 18 scholarship offers, but remains wide open.

Although he says hell wait awhile before deciding, he admits to favoring Notre Dame slightly over West Virginia, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and Iowa. All of Thomas' favorites have offered as well as Michigan State, Rutgers, Arkansas, Connecticut, Central Florida, South Florida and others.

"Notre Dame is recruiting me the hardest," Thomas said. "They check on me like every day and text me all the time. I love the school and the education. It's a great program and they have great coaches. They all have a lot of experience and know how to produce great players."

The only schools that Thomas has already visited unofficially are Clemson and Georgia and he'll be attending the Auburn camp on July 14.

"When I take my visits I'll see how I feel," he said. "I want to find a place where I fit into the system and am able to play early. I'd like to take a few official visits if I can. I'd like to visit Notre Dame and West Virginia, but I want to make my decision in October, so I probably won't take them all.

"West Virginia has a great offense and runs the ball a lot," Thomas said. "I think I'd be able to play early there and I like how well they've done the past few years."

Another school that Thomas may visit is Iowa. "I think I could go in there and see early playing time," he said. "The coaches have been there for a long time and I think they're secure."

One school that Thomas said had offered him during the spring and since backed off is USC. "I didn't really want to go that far away anyway," he said. "But I'm not hearing much from them anymore."

He reports a 3.4 core GPA and a 910 SAT.
