Tanner Smith lines up four official visits

Tanner Smith (Combo Guard, Norcross, GA) - The 6' 5", 195 pound Wesleyan School product poured in 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists a game as a junior and the offers have been piling in ever since.

"Ole Miss and Iowa just offered me a couple of days ago," added Tanner Smith. "Auburn was the first school to offer me. I have offers from Cinci, Georgia, Vandy, St. Joe, Colorado, Oregon, and Clemson too."

Where does Smith stand with his recruitment?

"I am starting to narrow things down. I have four official visits set up. They are to St. Joes (end of August) and the next three weekends in a row will be Vandy, Auburn, and Georgia."

Who is in the running for the fifth spot?

"Cinci, Colorado, and Clemson."

Where does his two newest offers (Ole Miss and Iowa) stand?

"Ole Miss came in on me a little late. They offered me after the Peach camp. Really, they both came on me late, but Iowa's staff just came in from Butler. They are new over there, so they are just getting their wants compiled. But Ole Miss' coaches have been there for a few years. It would be tough for any school who has not made contact with me for a couple of years to beat out the ones that have."

What will Smith look at when it does come decision time?

"The three main things are: will I make an immediate impact? And if not in my first season, by my second season. The second factor will be my relationship with the coaches and players. That is the thing about Ole Miss and Iowa. I do not know anything about their players or coaches for that matter. I have never had that bond because they came on me so late. Lastly, I want to play in a great conference. Everyone wants to play against good competition."
