September Will Play a Large Role for Kahrs

Lansdale, Pa., native Mickey Kahrs has yet to pick up his first scholarship offer, however he just surfaced last year as a legitimate collegiate prospect and will most likely need to follow up an impressive junior campaign with a strong September to garner the offers that he currently covets. If Kahrs can be as productive as he showed last season, that should not be a problem.
Last year at this time
Mickey Kahrs
was just one of the boys on the Lansdale Catholic High School roster, however after a breakout season where he snagged 31 catches for 536 yards and seven touchdowns, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound wide receiver has found himself being looked at by a handful of Division I programs. Two of the schools recruiting Kahrs the hardest right now are
Temple
and
Buffalo
and he had the chance to camp with each school over the past few weeks.
“Temple camp was really well-run and they worked the heck out of everyone down there which I really liked,” Kahrs explained. “I got to team up with
Chris Johnson
from Roman Catholic in a lot of the drills which was great because he is an excellent player and overall it was just a very good day. I really like the coaching staff at Temple a lot and I spoke to both Coach Al Golden and Coach Matt Rhule afterwards who told me they would be keeping a close eye on me very early in the season and would know then if they would be offering me. I worked out the entire camp at wide receiver, but they said I could have a future as a free safety for the Owls as well.”
“Buffalo held their camp in Brooklyn, so I did not see the campus, however I did like their head coach Turner Gill a lot,” Kahrs said. “I really felt like I fit in with the coaching staff and they said they are very interested in me at this point. They also said that the first few games of my senior season will be big for them which is what a lot of schools have been telling me.”
Kahrs will be attending camp at Delaware on July 28th and is receiving very heavy interest from both Columbia and Bucknell as well.
Syracuse
is another program that has been sending him large amounts of mail, however at this point it looks like the Orange may only be monitoring Kahrs rather then chasing him. One thing to keep in mind is that Syracuse did offer
Chris Lorditch
last year, a player whom Kahrs has a very similar skill set to.
As a junior, Kahrs was third in the Pioneer Athletic Conference in receiving yards and was also a quality player in the defensive backfield at safety, where he could also have a future.
