Focus '08: Steve Dunn

Churchville, N.Y., product Steve Dunn camped at Temple earlier this month and is being recruited by a handful of other schools, however the defensive lineman has yet to pick up an offer. We caught up with Dunn to see which schools were checking him out and to get a report on his visit to Philadelphia.

Steve Dunn, a 6-foot, 275-pound defensive tackle from Churchville-Chili High School in Churchville, N.Y., has already camped at Temple this summer and is receiving interest from schools at both the Division I-A and I-AA levels. His lack of ideal height certainly will limit him to certain defensive schemes at the next level as some programs prefer a larger presence up front, however the interest is there for him now from several parties.

"Right now I'd say Delaware, Massachusetts, Temple, Connecticut, Pittsburgh and Syracuse are the schools recruiting me hardest," Dunn said. "Temple is the only place I camped this summer, but I could be stopping at other schools before the season starts."

"Temple camp went alright and I think I did pretty well," Dunn explained. "The city of Philadelphia is actually quite nice and I really liked the staff and think the program is definitely headed in the right direction. I don't know much about the school or football program other then the fact that they play in the Philadelphia Eagles stadium."

"Connecticut keeps in contact with me regularly and a coach actually stopped by the weight room this year and talked to me," Dunn stated. "He told me a bit about their football program and school, however I have not set up a visit to see them at this point, nor have I been invited up."

Dunn was on his way to camp at Delaware when we spoke to him and is being recruited by a group of programs at that level. As a junior, Dunn collected 52 tackles, five sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered one on his way to first-team All-Section and All-County honors.

He carries a core GPA of 3.0 and has benches 340 pounds, squats 340 pounds, dead lifts 575 pounds and power cleans 360 pounds.
