T.J. Lawrence, the 6-foot-1.5, 190-pound four-star wide receiver/defensive back from Kathleen Senior High School in Lakeland, Fla., has 22 scholarship offers and continues to deny a leader.
Lawrence likes Virginia Tech, Boise State, Florida and South Carolina and has offers from all four. "I don't really have one school that I'm focusing on," Lawrence said. "These are the four that stand out right now."
He doesn't have any official visits scheduled yet, but has already visited the Virginia Tech campus. "They have a really strong program and a great defense," he said. "They are recruiting me for defensive back, most of the others are saying receiver. They say they like that I'm a prototypical defensive back and they could see me competing early."
One school that appears to have dropped out of Lawrence's list is Florida State. "They don't seem to be recruiting me anymore," Lawrence admitted.
It's another Florida school that Lawrence says he grew up watching. "I always liked Florida," he said. "They want me for receiver and I love that they run a four-wide spread. They have a great offense and are coming off a national championship."
Lawrence says that South Carolina is recruiting him the hardest. "They text me every day and are always keeping up with me," he said. "I don't really know too much about them yet."
The surprise school on Lawrence's list is Boise State. "It seems like an exciting program and they've been recruiting me really hard since they've offered," Lawrence said. "I figured I'd like to check them out and see if I'd be able to fit in there. They are an up-and-coming program that had an amazing season last year.
"I don't plan on taking my visits until the end of the season," he said. "I'd like to take a couple trips and commit toward the end of the year."
Lawrence reports a 2.5 core GPA and a 17 ACT.
