Meredith Quickly Coming Back
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive end Cameron Meredith is up to 11 offers, but an injury to his shoulder stunted the possibility of earning a few more during the summer. "I went to the USC camp and hurt my shoulder," said Meredith. "It was a separation but its feeling pretty good. I'm staying out of contact, though, because I don't want to aggravate it, but I'll be ready to roll." Meredith picked up his most recent two offers from Arizona State and Boise State, but was hoping to get a chance to audition for the UCLA coaches until the injury ended that. Still, Meredith is hoping that the Bruins give him a shot. "They said that they really like me, but I don't know if they're going to offer me," said Meredith. "I might have to wait for a few games. UCLA is close to home and it would be cool to stay close by. But I still have some really good options." Those options include Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arizona and Oregon amongst others, that quartet comprising his top four schools. "I've been out to Oklahoma, and I've seen Arizona and Oregon and I liked them a lot," said Meredith. "I'm going out to Nebraska next month to see it and I may take an official out there too. I'm not sure about Boise State, if I'll visit there, but my dad wants me to go check them all out. And Tennessee, it really seems like they may be offering me too soon. So I'm not really narrowing it down right now." Meredith said he's planning to use the midway point of his season to really begin narrowing things down. "Midway through the season, after I've watched the teams and saw how the coaches are doing, I'll probably start narrowing down my choices. I want to take some of my official visits too," said Meredith. Meredith is coming off a 60-tackle, eight-sack season for the Monarchs and this fall, he's also planning to mix in more time at tight end. Academically, he has a 2.6 GPA and awaiting his SAT score.
