Oakland Tech (Calif.) tight end Sean Brown (6-4.5, 220), is still anxiously awaiting his first offer.
“I’m getting letters and I got phone calls (during the contact period) from UNLV, Wyoming, San Diego State, UC Davis and William & Mary, but no offers yet,” said Brown. “I’m just staying patient.”
Brown, who also plays defensive end, said much of his recruitment has been as an athlete, while some schools specifically have a position in mind for him.
“I went to the Scout Combine as a tight end and then the Nike Camp as a defensive end,” said Brown. “I know that UNLV is looking at me as a defensive end and so is UC Davis. Wyoming is looking at me as a tight end, and for the others, I’m not sure exactly, I guess as an athlete. I don’t have a preference for either side. I enjoy both.”
Aside from the schools he’s heard from, he’s interested in Cal, Washington State, San Jose State and UCLA.
“I like Cal a lot, I went to their 1-day camp that they had (in June),” said Brown. “I was named the defensive line MVP at their camp.”
With no offers, Brown said he’s not really in a hurry to get things moving along.
“I want to take some time anyway,” said Brown. “I’m open to anything at this point.”
An all-combine pick at the San Francisco Scout.com Combine, Brown played his sophomore and junior year at Albany HS but he’ll be playing his senior year at Oakland Tech.
Academically, he has a 3.2 GPA and is waiting for his test score.
