Jerrell Harris, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound four-star linebacker from Gadsden City, Ala., grew up following Florida State and that's just one of many schools lining up for Harris' service.
"I love the defense at Florida State," Harris, who is ranked No. 19 in the Southeast by Scout.com, said. "They are known for their defense. I think they are coming back and I expect them to do pretty good this season."
With approximately 32 scholarship offers, Harris has his choice of practically any school. He's already camped at Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Florida and Clemson and also likes USC and Michigan, although he hasn't had a chance to visit the Trojans or the Wolverines.
"USC is on top of everything," Harris said. "They have the best of everything there and the program is just amazing. I'm not too worried about the distance either. I'll go anywhere.
"Michigan is really good too and have know for having great tradition and defense," he said. "The coaches are really good there and hopefully I'll get a chance to see what it's like there."
Alabama, which is only about one and half hours away, is also high on Harris' list. "They are a team on-the-rise and have a lot of room for players to come in and compete right away," he said. "I like my chances of being able to play early there.
"I want a great atmosphere and play for coaches that I get along with," Harris said. "I really want to go to the next level, so I want to play for a winning team."
He reports a 3.2 core GPA and is taking the SAT for the first time this fall.
