"I went to the USC lineman camp and they told me to come back to their Rising Stars Camp and they would probably offer me," Armond Armstead said. "I knew I wanted to go to USC after I got that offer and I've been committed to USC since right after that camp, about a month ago..." | |||

Armond Armstead, the 6-foot-5, 290-pound three-star defensive tackle/end from Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove, Calif., announced his decision to attend USC Monday night as planned at the Table 260 Restaurant in Elk Grove, Calif. "At USC, I felt the most comfortable with the coaches, location and tradition," Armstead said. "I'm 110% committed. "I went to the USC lineman camp and they told me to come back to their Rising Stars Camp and they would probably offer me," he said. "I knew I wanted to go to USC after I got that offer and I've been committed to USC since right after that camp, about a month ago. "I really like Coach (Nick) Holt (defensive coordinator and defensive line). I really like his energy and knowledge of the game. They want me for both defensive end and defensive tackle. "My No. 2 pick was Washington and No. 3 was Oregon," Armstead said. "California never offered me. There was just no mutual interest there." Armstead reports a 2.9 core GPA and a 1600 SAT (3 sections), which he plans to retake in the fall.
