Shawnbrey McNeal and Adewale Ojomo were the only two incoming freshmen who did not report with the rest of the freshmen when summer school began in June.
Ojomo's situation is still up in the air but McNeal's seems to have been finalized.
With just two days remaining until the day all incoming freshmen officially report, the talented running back from Texas received good news.
"(Shawnbrey) just got cleared by the clearinghouse," McNeal's father said on Tuesday. "(He) will be ready for practice Thursday."
McNeal, 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, was a commitment to Texas A&M last recruiting season before landing an offer from the Hurricanes. He inked with the Hurricanes in February.
One of the fastest track athletes in the entire nation, McNeal will bring plenty of speed and excitement to the running back position for the Hurricanes. How he'll fit into the team's plans as a true freshman will be determined by how he does over the next four weeks of preseason camp.
