It is not that often that a prep player will be recruited as linebacker and as a kicker, but that is indeed the case with 2009 St. Pius X prospect Anthony Fera. Fera is a talented player that is just coming to realize his potential as a major division one kicking prospect. | |||

At 6-foot-2, 230-pounds Anthony Fera does not look like your typical kicker prospect, and it was no shock to find out that he was also going to be utilized as a major defensive weapon for defending State Champions St. Pius X (Houston, Texas). Fera recently transferred in to St. Pius after playing his first two seasons a Klein High, and he is excited about getting out on the field to help the team on another run. “I am going to try and have a really great year, and I am going to try to kick another really long field goal like I did my freshman year,” Fera informed. “When I was a freshman I made a 58 yard field goal.” Fera seems to bring a well rounded package to the table as a kicking prospect, and he is definitely patterning himself after one of the very best in the game. “My accuracy,” Fera began to explain when asked about his biggest strengths. “I am really good at that, but I would have to say that my (kicking) power is the strongest part of my game.” “I kind of look up to Adam Vinatieri. He is a really good clutch kicker, and he just does not miss that much at all.” Fera hit the summer camp trail and he had some pretty exciting stops at Ohio State, Penn State, and Texas A&M. Fera explained the experiences at Ohio State and Penn State while his father, Tony Fera, broke down the experience at A&M. “It was really nice,” Fera said of his time at OSU. “I got to meet Coach (Jim) Tressel and all of those guys. It was a lot of fun.” “The Penn State camp was really fun. I am from Philadelphia, so it was really fun for me. I have a lot of family up there in the area I would not have a problem with playing for a school up north like Penn State or Ohio State.” “Anthony was at the night session of Texas A&M camp, and that was a lot of fun,” Tony Fera explained. “Anthony got to stay over for some extra work with special team coach (Mark) Tommerdahl. He was pretty surprised when he found out that Anthony had never been coached by a kicking specialist before.” Anthony Fera- 58-Yard Field Goal- Freshman Year-Watch Video
