Jameel Owens, who has approximately 15 scholarship offers, says that the school's depth chart will be critical. "I'll be looking at their depth charts because I want to get early playing time," Owens said. "That's big with me. I'll also see what quarterbacks they have and who they are recruiting too." Florida, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Arkansas are significantly on his mind lately.

Jameel Owens, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound, four-star wide receiver from Muskogee (Okla.), continues to deny a favorite but says he's getting close to narrowing it down.

"I should have my top five by the end of the month," Owens said. "I want to start setting up my official visits and take them during the season."

Although Owens (ranked No. 4 in the Midlands by Scout.com) he doesn't have a favorite, he admits that Florida, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Arkansas are significantly on his mind lately.

"I definitely want to take an official visit to Florida," he said. "It's a great program that's away from home so I want to check them out and see what it's like. I'm open to going anywhere, so the distance isn't a big deal. I like that they are the national champions and always seem to have a great team."

The Gators are the only school from the ones mentioned above that Owens hasn't visited yet. "Arkansas has great facilities and the coaches are really cool," he said.

"I like Oklahoma State because they are an up-and-coming program and they are working hard to be a team of the future."

. Growing up, Owens admits that he always followed Oklahoma and the Sooners are less than two hours from his home. "They are a winning program and I grew up on them," Owens said. "I think they'll do real good this season. I like coach Bob Stoops a lot and we have a pretty good relationship."

Some of the other schools that Owens has offers from are Texas Tech, LSU, Kansas, Kansas State, Tennessee, Nebraska, Colorado and others.

Muskogee's first game is on August 31 against Broken Arrow High School.

He reports a 2.5 core GPA and a 22 ACT.
