UCLA's recruiting class grew by one on Monday, and it's a familiar name to the Bruin program.
Kevan Walker, the 6-0, 186-pound receiver from Arcadia, and son of UCLA's defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker, changed his mind and will be coming to Westwood.
"I have decommitted from Minnesota and have committed to UCLA," said Walker.
Walker had committed to the Gophers, where his father played, in April, but almost immediately after was offered by the Bruin coaching staff. After being torn for the past few months, Walker made the decision to stay in Southern California.
"I greatly appreciate what Coach McDonald and what Coach Brewster have done for me throughout the recruiting class and I thank them for giving me the opportunity to play at their school," said Walker. "They will definitely be a contender for that Big Ten championship but I feel that just playing at home in front of my family and friends was better for not only myself but my family also."
Walker, though, is hoping that UCLA and Minnesota will meet up in the near future.
"There's a big chance that we probably could play Minnesota in these next few years in not only the Rose Bowl Game but even in the national championship. Coach Brew is an amazing coach, along with his new coaching staff and they definitely know how to recruit.
Walker said being near his family was the deal-sealer.
"In my case it was just staying by my family," said Walker.
Walker is the 24th commitment for UCLA in the class of 2009, and the fifth at receiver.
