Mackey and Coples Starting Fresh at Hargrave
Hargrave Academy football team received some great news when they learned that Delaware's top rated player, Leon Mackey, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive end from Newark, Del., was transferring in. He is an extremely mobile lineman and does a nice job getting to the second level and taking defenders out in the running game. He could be a defensive end or tackle depending on the scheme. Mackey earned second team All-Conference honors after his performance as a junior and was selected as the Scout.com Combine MVP after an impressive performance in New Jersey on April 15th. Mackey, who is considering offers from Tennessee, North Carolina State, and Pittsburgh, will be playing on the post-graduate squad at Hargrave. Quinton Coples Mackey may be ranked a little higher nationally, but Quinton Coples, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound defensive end from North Carolina is one of the most highly sought after players in the entire country. With his transfer you can bet that the Academy will continue to host the country's top college coaching staffs week in and week out. Coples finished his junior season with 110 tackles and three sacks. He shows tremendous burst of acceleration and surprising balance for a player of his size. Coples, who is considering offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Ohio State and Tennessee, will be playing on the Hargrave post-graduate squad.
