Martin Has a New Leader
Chris Martin Profile Chris and his teammates have very high expectations for the 2007 season. "The team looks excellent this year," said Martin. "We really have something to look forward to. We are going to win district. We are going to own our district. We are going to go to the playoffs and maybe all the way to State." Chris has stepped up and been a leader for the Big Green Indians. "I am going to be the team captain," said Martin. "I am trying to show leadership all around. We have an older team this year, so that's good. It makes a difference." Martin reeled in a trio of earlier offers, but a pair of new ones have increased his total to five. "I have five offers now," said Chris. "Central Florida, LSU, Alabama, Purdue and Maryland have offered. I am going to look at everything to be honest. I don't want to limit myself to anything." Earlier in the process, Chris was very high on the LSU Tigers' program, but now it appears another Southeastern Conference school is in the lead for Martin's signature. "I would say that Alabama is the one that is standing out to me the most," said Chris. "I have been up there a bunch of times and I like the school in general. I like the coaches. I got to talk to Saban himself and I really like him. My parents like it up there too." Chris reports that Auburn, Georgia and Florida have not offered, but all three are showing a good level of interest. The talented trench warrior believes that his college future will be on the defensive side of the ball. "I will play either defensive tackle or end," said Martin. "I like playing end, but I can play tackle. Either position is fine with me." Martin is in no hurry to make a decision and he feels certain that he will take a visit or two before pulling the trigger. "I really don't know," said Chris. "I am going to take a couple of visits before I decide and I am not sure when I will decide."
