Palmer-Garcia Draws Praise at Camps

Bronx, N.Y., native Marquis Palmer-Garcia camped at four schools this summer and is receiving steady interest from a number of programs, however it looks as though his senior season will play the biggest role in his recruiting, just as it does for so many other players at this point in the cycle.

Marquis Palmer-Garcia, a 6-foot, 184-pound wide receiver from Herbert H. Lehman High School camped at Penn State, Clemson, Buffalo and Hofstra this summer and is hearing from a handful of other schools. It seems the most interested programs of the schools he did not camp at are Maryland, Syracuse, Rutgers and South Carolina State and the word is that his senior season will be the deciding factor for many of these programs.

“Penn State camp went really well and I liked the school a lot,” Palmer-Garcia said. “The coaches said they really like my potential, but really need to see what I do as a senior to decide whether or not I am a scholarship player to them. Coach Brian Norwood has been in contact with me since camp to see how I have been doing and I really like everything about their program and school.”

“Other then that, my contact has been different with every school,” Palmer-Garcia stated. “Buffalo sends me a lot of emails and I was the wide receivers MVP at their camp, so I guess they are pretty interested. Clemson says they are full right now at wide receiver, but still wants me to keep in touch incase anything opens up. South Carolina State really likes me and could be close to offering. I also get handwritten letters from Rutgers a lot and mail from Maryland and Syracuse, although Syracuse is probably recruiting me with the least intensity of all of those schools.”

Palmer-Garcia has caught 87 passes for 1076 yards and 16 touchdowns over the past two seasons and was named first-team All-City and All-Borough at wide receiver as a junior.
