Thomas Explains Decision
The Houston (Texas) Aldine product says that he had 20-plus scholarship offers to choose from but he always knew who he wanted to suit up for. "I've been wanting to go there (LSU) ever since I was a little kid," Thomas said. "Then when I went to camp in July I loved toe coaches like coach (Gary) Crowton (offensive coordinator) and the wide receivers coach (D.J. McCarthy). That made me like them even more." That camp that Thomas attended sealed the deal for the Tigers and it also gave him a chance to inform the coaches of his intentions in person. "I actually committed to coach Miles the last day I was there but we wanted to keep it under the radar," explained Thomas. "I've been just waiting on the news channel to have some time and last night we got it done." Thomas is ranked as the No. 11 rated quarterback in the land by Scout.com but when he gets to LSU there is a good chance he could line up at another position and that sits fine with the Texas product. "Like I told the coaches, whatever position they want me to play I'll play it," explained Thomas. "If it's wide receiver then I'll play there. If it's quarterback then I'll play there. And if it's somewhere else I'll play there. It doesn't matter as long as I can help out the team."
