“Football practice has been going good,” Keon Rucker said. “We have been practicing hard. We have a scrimmage tomorrow against Tulsa-Union, (Okla.). I think we have a good chance to win our conference this year. We have some key players coming back on offense and defense. I think we can possibly win state.”
“I will be playing some receiver and running back this year. It will be about 50-50 between the two positions.”
Rucker attended four summer camps and is anxious to receive his first scholarship offer.
“I went to Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Southern Miss and Arkansas," he said. "I have not received any offers, but I think I am real close to getting one from Hawaii. The main school I am waiting for is Texas Tech. I think that is getting close.”
“When I was at the camps all the coaches said they were going to keep an eye on me. I had my best camp at Southern Miss. It was more in-depth. I did really good."
Texas Tech and Southern Miss currently sit at the top of Rucker’s list.
Texas Tech: “I just like their offense. They pass the ball no matter how small you are. Even the o-linemen are spread out. Their quarterbacks are always good, and they are well coached.”
Southern Miss: “They aren’t a spread offense, but I like how they play. They are always hard-nosed. I like how they play. It’s something about them that I like.”
Rucker is a sensation with the ball in his hands standing only 5-foot-5 and 135-pounds. He recorded 62 catches for 893 yards during his junior year. He recorded 1,800 all-purpose yards.
“Going into this season I want to be All-Conference and All-State. I want to have a decent year in the return game. I would like to have 75 or higher catches. My main goal is to help my team get to the state championship," Rucker concluded.
