"Practice has
been going great," added Brandon Bolden. "We just had our first jamboree.
We won the game. Our offense scored 4 TD's and I had three of them. It was a good
day. Next Friday we go up against Southern Lab. I am just trying to stay healthy
this year, year round. We got a new team and new coaches. I am just going to use
last year as a motivational tool. I can not wait to show everyone what I can do
at tailback this year."
Bolden took in three camps this summer.
"I
went to Ole Miss Sr Camp, and I went to La Tech's camp in Baton Rouge and Alabama's
4 Day camp."
How did his Ole Miss experience go?
"It was
pretty fun. I got to see a lot of top competition. It was very fun for a 1 Day
camp."
The Alabama camp was a success as he was offered a scholarship.
"It
was a 4 Day camp. That was a lot of fun. I talked to their coaches and competed
against a few players that are committed to them and a few that are on their wish
list. I got a nice little work out in. They offered me the second to last day
at the camp. I was at RB and Coach Saban came out there while I was catching some
passes. I told him that I played WR at Scotlandville, and he said they like to
throw to their RB's a lot. He left and I got a call to go to his office. I went
up there and he told me that he really liked my work and all of the coaches were
really impressed with me. He told me that I had an official scholarship offer,
and he wanted me to come play for their team."
What did Brandon say
back?
"I said I would love to play for him, but I needed to go home
and sit back with my parents and talk about it."
What did Bolden's
parents say when they discussed the situation?
"They were excited
about the offer, but we are going to wait and see who all offers first. But we
are not going to make them wait the whole season. I spoke to their coaches about
it. They were kind of disappointed that I did not want to go ahead and commit
but they understood. My coaches are going to make a highlight tape from the first
few games of the season and give it a little time."
Which colleges
are now at the top of Brandon's list?
"Ole Miss (offer), Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Tulane (offer), Baylor (offer), and Alabama (offer)."
Is
Bolden leaning in one direction?
"No sir."
What does he
like about each school?
Georgia Tech - "I like their running program,
and how they like to run the ball."
Ole Miss
- "I like their coaches. They are very cool. They are also talking about
me playing as a freshman. That caught my attention."
Alabama
- "I like their style of offense. They run the same way we do here. They
like to spread you and run a lot of gap plays. I am accustomed to that style of
offense."
Tennessee - "They run
almost the same offense. They go to a two back set and use a lot of shot gun formations."
Tulane
- "They do not want me to play RB. They want me to play safety. When I first
got to Scotlandville, I started at middle linebacker and safety. Defense has always
been there. I am probably better on defense than anywhere else."
Has
Bolden began to set up his official visits?
"No sir, not yet."
Which
coaches does Brandon call on his own?
"I talk to Coach Burns at Alabama
and Coach Frank (Wilson) from Ole Miss. I might catch them one or two times a
week."
