“I have an offer from Troy,” Johnny Thompson said. “My coach said Memphis is supposed to offer me as well. Georgia Tech and Alabama may offer. I was excited about the offer from Troy. I felt good about it.”
“I am not too familiar with Troy. I have been down there a few times, but I haven’t really visited. I will have to go back down and check them out.”
Thompson attended Alabama's camp as he talks about his trip to Tuscaloosa.
“Alabama’s camp went well. It was a lot of work that I didn’t expect for just a camp. The coaches said they liked me. Coach [Kirby] Smart said they like me. It was a good camp," he said.
“I have been an Alabama fan since I was a little kid. I like their winning style. I have been fascinated with Alabama forever. They are my dream school."
Thompson also camped in Death Valley with the Tigers.
“The Clemson camp went good. The coaches took the time to work with us. I like how they play, and the different techniques they were teaching us. They showed us how to defend ourselves at the position," he said.
“I really don’t know too much about Clemson. They are pretty good, and I could see myself going there.”
When asked favorite schools Thompson replied, “I basically like Georgia Tech, Tennessee,
Alabama and Troy. Those are the four main schools for me right now.”
“I like Georgia Tech because they are a good engineer and academic school. I like their field and weight room. I like their players ,and it’s a good atmosphere.”
“I really don’t know too much about Tennessee. They have been recruiting me, and I am excited about that. They are a big rival with Alabama, but I like them. I would like to visit and meet the coaches.”
Thompson stands 6-feet, 208-pounds. He had a big junior season with 144 tackles and hopes to have a stellar performance for the senior year.
“I want to do a lot better than I did last year," he said. "I want to lead the team in tackles. I want to go to the play-offs and compete for a ring. I will be playing inside/outside linebacker and tight end."
