Southern California is home to the premier defensive ends in the state, and the top three players at the position in California are all choosing to stay close to home...

The players at the top are amongst the best in the country, Holmes, Horton, Jones and Jarrett are amongst the top 25 pass-rushers in the country. Not the deepest position in the state, but very top heavy.

1. Damien Holmes, Colton (Calif.)- UCLA
The Defensive MVP of the Los Angeles Scout.com Combine, Holmes is a beast off the line of scrimmage, and also earned all-CIF honors last fall as a tight end.

2. Wes Horton, Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame- USC
One of the key players on what could end up being one of the elite teams in the state. Horton has plenty of football in his family tree.

3. Datone Jones, Compton (Calif.)- UCLA
A very good athlete for his size, Jones has helped the resurgence of Tarbabes Football.

4. Jamaar Jarrett, San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills
Jarrett first stood out to us at the Scout.com Combine when he was a sophomore and he’s getting bigger and stronger.

5. Cameron Meredith, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
Pound for pound, Meredith is one of the best pass rushers in the state of California.

6. Dominique Austin, La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat
Some schools like him on the offensive line, but we feel that his best football is played on the defensive side of the ball.

7. Matt Akers, Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty
The top defensive end in Central California, Akers is a big part of the Liberty defense.

8. Jon Rabe, La Verne (Calif.) Damien- Oregon
Wasted no time in taking Oregon’s offer, he’s coming off a very productive junior year.

9. Ross Williams, Mission Viejo (Calif.)- San Diego State
Older brother, Kyle, plays at Ohio State. Ross will be one of the anchors for a seasoned Diablos defense.

10. Malik Jackson, Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham
Had a great performance at the U.S. Army National Combine, coming off a junior year in which he helped lead the Patriots to the City Section title.

The Next 10 (in alphabetical order):

Brad Woodward, Vista (Calif.)
Chris Pousson, San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine

Jake Carr, Murrieta Valley (Calif.) Vista Murrieta
Logan Harrell, Santa Margarita (Calif.)
Marquis Jackson, Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham
