Jerome Tiller, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback from Lee High in San Antonio, Texas was considering offers from schools like Stanford, Minnesota, Purdue, and Kansas, but he was happy to announce that his future would be in Ames at Iowa State.
“I just felt the most comfortable with Iowa State,” Tiller said. “I did a lot of research about the school, and they sent a DVD that was very informative. It had some students talk about some things and it was real insightful.”
Tiller is a versatile prospect that can hurt you with his arm or his legs.
As a junior, he passed for over 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing for over 450 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Despite his versatility Tiller is coming in to Iowa State to compete as a quarterback.
“I am coming in to play quarterback only,” Tiller explained. “I talked to the coaches before I made my decision and that was one of the main questions.”

Tiller is excited about the direction of the Iowa State program, and believes that new head coach Gene Chizik will get things turned around quickly.
“I know he is a good coach,” Tiller began. “He wants to win there. He cut some players from the old system, and has shown that he wants to clean up the program. That shows me that he wants to do what it takes to win.”
Tiller has not yet had the chance to visit the campus in person, so he is obviously very anxious for his official visit.
“I am definitely excited to see it in person,” Tiller said. “I am going up on October 20th for the Oklahoma game. I can’t wait.”
The three-star prospect believes that being a good quarterback does not always start with physical abilities.
“A good quarterback has to bring a little bit of everything,” Tiller surmised. “He has to be able to deliver in the clutch. He has to be a good role model for his teammates, so they know that he is someone that they can count on.”
