Staten Island, N.Y., athlete Mickolas Blake will need a strong senior season to garner Division I offers and after a summer of hard work and with a strong quarterback like Dominick LeGrande throwing him the ball he is confident that will happen. We caught up with Blake recently to see how recruiting has gone this summer.

Mickolas Blake caught 32 passes for 400 yards and two touchdowns from his wide receiver position and added 20 tackles and two interceptions from the defensive secondary as a junior at Curtis High School last season in ten games. The 5-foot-10, 147-pound wide receiver will need to continue adding weight and work on his speed at the same time however if he wants to continue playing at the next level.

“I camped at Syracuse, Hofstra and Stony Brook this summer,” Blake said. “I am very close with the staff at Hofstra and familiar with the school and the coaching staff has just told me that if I keep getting bigger I will have a shot with them. I have also spoken to the Boise State coaches recently and get mail from Virginia and Rutgers, but I am not sure how serious that is.”

“Syracuse camp went great and the coaching staff said I looked really good while I was up there,” Blake explained. “They send me packages and updates regularly right now and they are close to home which is great. The coaching staff is really nice and seems very trustworthy and Syracuse is a great school. I also know a lot of people who go there, so it would be nice to end up at a school like that.”

As a junior, Blake was honored as a member of the Staten Island Elite 11 Team.
