Mike Hunt signed with Mississippi State earlier this year, but failed to meet entrance requirements…
Hunt Still Working on Getting to Starkville
Mike Hunt Profile Hunt reports that he is currently enrolled in a class to finalize his requirements to earn entrance as a college freshman. "I am taking a course now," said Mike. "I have an A right now. It's going pretty good. I will be done with it in October and I will be leaving out in January for Mississippi State." The Mississippi State coaching staff has stayed in contact with Mike to monitor his progress. "I talked to them last night," said Hunt. "They told me to keep up the good work up and that they are ready to get me up there." Mike is taking care of his physical fitness as well as his academic demands. "I am working out at my school everyday," said Mike. "I have that Mississippi State workout book, so I am using that. I have gained a few pounds since last year. I am ready. I am 218 now." At 6-2, 218 Hunt may be outgrowing his high school position. "They are talking about me being a strong safety or an outside linebacker," said Mike. "They want me to be able to cover the man in the slot. I don't mind hitting people. They said if I get up to 225, I could play outside linebacker. I have played there before, so it won't be anything new for me. I like it." One of the more difficult parts of having to sit out for Mike is not being able to practice and play with the incoming players he had built such a bond with. He will make the trip to Starkville later this week to see his friends in action. "I am going up there Thursday," said Hunt. "I think we have a chance to compete with LSU. It's not going to be a gimme like last year. With all the talent we have up there now, we might be able to win that game. No matter what happens we are going to have a winning season."
