Injury forces Wright to sit out season opener
Posted Aug 30, 2007
Tenarius Wright (LB, Memphis, TN) - Scout.com's #30 nationally rated strong side linebacker did not get off to the start he had hoped for.
"I turned my ankle before the season opener, and I did not play," stated a dejected
. "We beat Mitchell 25-16, so at least our guys took care of business, but it definitely is not the way I wanted to start out my senior season. Coach said he was going to save me for Regional play which starts in game three."
Tenarius was seeing some improvements in his game before the injury occurred.
"I have really worked on my weak spot which is pass coverage. I picked up some more speed by doing more squats and going to a D1 speed trainer three days a week. I can really tell a difference in my quickness."
Which colleges now have an offer on the table for Wright?
"I still have Arkansas, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Indiana, and Memphis."
Any college games on tap?
"I am going to the Memphis/Ole Miss game on Saturday. Later on I am going to Arkansas/Troy and the Ole Miss/Florida game. That is all for now."
Which colleges has Wright contacted in recent weeks?
"Lately I have spoken to the coach from Arkansas, Freeze at Ole Miss, Jencek from Georgia, and the recruiter from LSU."
Georgia has not offered but they are getting mighty close.
"They told me I am one of their Top 5 LB's on their board that they are recruiting. They said I am next in line. All they said I have to do is prove my point on the field. Georgia said I am capable of playing for them."
Which college would Wright like to start recruiting him harder?
"I would like to see LSU start recruiting me harder than they are."
Who is coming after Tenarius the hardest?
"I would say the hardest right now would be Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Memphis. Alabama is also recruiting me pretty hard. I forgot to mention them earlier. I have been talking to them a lot lately. They are coming to see me play too."
If Wright were to name one school that would be next in line to offer; it would be?
"I believe it would be Georgia because they are recruiting me a little harder, and I went to the GA camp so they have seen me play."
