York Expects to be a Top Target in '09
Kelvin York did all of this while splitting carries with fellow sophomore teammate and 2009 prospect Eddie Lacy. What is the best way to describe York's running style and what separates him from others? "I'm not afraid of contact and I hit the hole harder than most running backs," he said. "I'm a straight ahead guy; I don't like to juke unless I have to. I'd say I have a good mix of both power and speed." College coaches know what York can do on the field and he is already getting attention from some of the country's top programs. "Louisville sent me a letter today and I've also received letters from Florida, Colorado, Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee, and Louisiana Tech," he said. York has not received any scholarship offers yet but that hasn't stopped him from putting together a list of schools he's already thinking of, including a top three. "I'm interested in Cal, USC, LSU, Miami, Stanford, West Virginia, Notre Dame, and Central Florida," he said. "My top three for right now are USC, Miami, and LSU." When asked to comment on what interested him about each of his top three schools, York offered the following: USC--"I like USC because they have good running backs that come out of the university. I liked when Reggie Bush played for them. And they produce a lot of good wide receivers." Miami--"They have a good defense, and they're in the ACC. They are a pretty good running team." LSU--"I like LSU because they have a lot of running backs that played in the NFL like Joseph Addai, Dominick Davis and Labrandon Toefield. They also have a lot of good wide receivers like Dwayne Bowe, Craig Davis, Josh Reed, and Michael Clayton. They always have a good offense and good defense and they play in the SEC."
