Set for Life
Reuben Johnson
National Recruiting Editor

Reuben Johnson says that Boston College is recruiting him the hardest. "The school itself is great," Johnson said. "You get a Boston College degree and you're set for life. Also, the program is still up-and-coming and has pretty good tradition too." The Eagles lead slightly over Syracuse, Minnesota, Iowa, Tennessee and Maryland. All have offered.

Reuben Johnson, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound three-star defensive back/running back from Winslow Township High School in Atco, N.J., still hasn't set up any official visits yet, but says he's getting close. "I'm in the process of doing so right now," Johnson said. "I should have a few set up within the next week or so."

Johnson, ranked the No. 36 best cornerback in the country by Scout.com, has around 15 scholarship offers but says he's still very open. "I'm still narrowing things down and trying to see what the best fit for me is," he said. "I want a family atmosphere and some place with a strong football program and good academics."

"Syracuse is close to home (one hour away) and that's definitely a plus," he said. "It doesn't hurt that they are close. I really have high expectations for them and I know they lost to Washington, but I think maybe if I went there I could help them get back on track. They are just missing a few pieces of the puzzle."

Johnson admits he initially wanted to commit before the season, "but now I think I'm going to wait until toward the end of the season."

The only two schools in Johnson's top six that he's actually visited are Syracuse and Maryland. He's eager to check out the Midwest.

"Minnesota and Iowa are both great programs," he said. "I really like the Big Ten and their tradition and how they play all the top teams every week and get good exposure. It's just a great conference."

Winslow Township opens their season on Thursday, Sept. 6 against Washington Township.

He reports a 2.6 core and an 820 two-part SAT, will retake in October.
