The scheduling set up nicely for Jameel Owens as he was able to visit Oklahoma in the afternoon for the Miami (Fl.) game and still have time to also see an evening tilt between Oklahoma State and Florida Atlantic.
“I am going to be going to both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma,” Owens reported.
Owens has received offers from schools like OU, OSU, LSU, Arkansas, Florida, Colorado, Nebraska and Missouri, and he would like to take some official visits before making a decision, but he does not have anything planned at this point in time.
“I have not been able to set up any official visits yet. I have to get cleared by the clearinghouse first, and I just submitted all of that so I can get cleared,” Owens explained.
Most Oklahoma high school football fans expected a tough game when the Muskogee Roughers took the field on Friday night to face off against the Norman North Timberwolves, and that was certainly the case as the Roughers need a huge game from Owens to help secure a fourth quarter rally to capture a 29-27 win.
On the night Owens had an impressive 13 catches for 178 yards and a touchdown, and was the go to guy heading down the stretch.
“I just feel like they could not cover me,” Owens said. “They said that they were going at me man to man, and I knew that I was going to have the opportunity to make some things happen.”
There will be no rest for Owens and his teammates as they are set to square off against Union next weekend. Union will be the number one team in the state after knocking off Jenks 43-42 Friday night in the “Backyard Brawl.”
“We just need to have a good week at practice and do the right things to get ready for Union,” Owens said of the match-up. “Hopefully we can do the same things and they will not be able to shut me down.”
