Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School started their season with a bang this weekend as the Falcons scored three touchdowns through the air on the way to a 22-12 victory over Reading Memorial High School. Junior sensation Joshua Adams was a big part of that victory and the wide receiver talked about his early offers with us recently. | |||

Joshua Adams has already picked up written scholarship offers from Boston College, Stanford, Nebraska and North Carolina and the 6-foot-4, 200-pound wide receiver from Cambridge, Mass., had a great start to the season on Friday night, catching six passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored on a two-point conversion. Adams will most likely be one of the most heavily recruited receivers in the nation for his class and talked a bit about which schools are showing interest. “Right now I have those four offers from Boston College, Stanford, Nebraska and North Carolina and have gotten mail from a lot of schools saying they want to see what I do my first couple of games,” Adams explained. “Some of the schools I have been hearing from have been Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, Oregon, Colorado and Connecticut.” We took some time to walk through what Adams likes about some of those schools. Boston College - “Boston College has a great program and their academics are huge as I know I could go anywhere with a degree from there, especially in Boston. I went to their first game against Wake Forest and was surprised and excited with how much they threw the ball in the game.” Stanford - “I believe I spoke to their head coach on the phone the other day and he said that he wanted me to come out and check out the campus and what they had to offer. He told me that he had called the school and found that my grades were fine, but just told me I would need to add some honors courses which I am going to do. Stanford is a great academic institution and has very high graduation rates, especially among African-American students which caught my eye. It would be great to go to school in California, it would be like a dream.” Nebraska - “Right now I don’t know much about them, but I got some books about the university and am in the process of researching them and what they have to offer.” North Carolina - “I camped there this summer and it was one of the greatest things I have ever seen. I mean, everything there was blue. It was just beautiful down there and all of the people around town were very nice, always saying hello whether I knew them or not. The coaching staff was also unbelievable and I felt like we were friends after just a few days. They are good academically and have a lot of young talent, so I feel like they are a program on the rise.” Michigan - “Michigan is a very good team historically and one of my coaches went there, so he has been talking to them about me.” Florida - “I can’t wait to get an offer from Florida! Every since my freshman year I have really liked the Gators and I think that Head Coach Urban Meyer does a great job getting people the ball and running the team. I really enjoyed my time at camp there as well.” As a sophomore, Adams caught 35 passes for 725 yards and six touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown and threw a 60-yard touchdown pass. On defense he registered 75 tackles and five interceptions and was named Player of the Year by both his league and Old Spice. He was also a first team All-State selection. Starting seven games as a freshman, Adams caught 18 passes for 350 yards and two touchdowns while intercepting nine passes as a defensive back. |
