"My coach and I are gonna be sitting down this week and figuring it all out," Owens said. "We're gonna start setting up my trips and come up with a top five and everything. I just want to make sure I'm comfortable. That’s the main thing for me." Although Owens denies a leader, he favors Oklahoma, Florida, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, LSU and Arkansas. "I'm pretty open, but my mother wants..."

Jameel Owens, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound, four-star wide receiver has helped lead Muskogee, Okla., to a 2-0 start. Owens has already caught 18 passes for 262 yards and one touchdown.

Owens, ranked the No. 12 wide receiver in the country by Scout.com, says he has 15 scholarship offers in-hand, but continues to deny a leader.

"My coach and I are gonna be sitting down this week and figuring it out," Owens said. "We're gonna start setting up my trips and come up with a top five and everything. I just want to make sure I'm comfortable. That’s the main thing for me."

Although Owens denies a leader, he favors Oklahoma, Florida, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, LSU and Arkansas. "I'm pretty open, but my mother wants me to stay close," he said. "Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are both within two hours driving."

He already attended the Oklahoma/Miami game on Sept. 8 and says the Sooners are recruiting him the hardest. "It's a great atmosphere there," Owens said. "It's very exciting and I loved how dedicated all the fans are. They always sell out the stadium and they support the team to the end.

"I'm also really impressed with how strong they are coming off," he said. "They look really strong this season, but I'm not that surprised. They had a bunch of good players coming back and great coaches."

Owens has also previously attended games at Oklahoma State and says he likes the atmosphere there too, but admits that it's different. "Oklahoma fans seem to go crazier," he said. "It's just seems louder at Oklahoma, but I like the atmosphere at Oklahoma State too. I've got friends at both schools and they are both great programs. Oklahoma has the better tradition, but Oklahoma State is up-and-coming."

The only other school that Owens has actually already visited is Arkansas. He says he'll most likely visit Florida and LSU officially. "I definitely plan to visit Florida," he said. "It's farther away and I've never been there so I want to see what that's like. Also it's the swamp and I've heard great stories about them. They are the national champs so it doesn't get any better.

"I really want to get to know more about LSU too," Owens said. "I've heard that it's a fun place and I'd like to visit them and just check everything out."

Since Sept. 1, Owens has been getting calls from all of his favorites and on Tuesday he spoke with Tennessee defensive ends coach Steve Caldwell. "He just called me and we talked for a bit," he said. "We talked about all the great receivers they've produced like Robert Meachem and how they always have great athletes and produce NFL caliber players."

He reports a 2.5 core GPA and a 22 ACT.
