Bethlehem Liberty crushed Whitehall on Friday night and running back Ahkeem Smith was definitely one of the key contributors in that win. The 6-foot, 190-pound tailback ran for 244 yards and two scores on only 7 carries in the first half and provided the Hurricanes with touchdown runs of 93 and 62 yards. He also caught a 33-yard touchdown pass and returned an interception 42 yards, giving him four scores in the first half alone. Smith played only the first series of the second half, rushing twice for 10 yards and catching a pass for 24 yards. We caught up with him for a video interview after the win and he spoke about five schools recruiting him in Temple, Boston College, Pittsburgh, New Hampshire and his favorite, Maryland. Smith takes a much needed breather after a 93-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that was opened up when fullback Brendan Beal completely de-cleated a would be tackler. As a junior, Smith carried the ball 214 times for 1340 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also caught 16 passes for 132 and three touchdowns.
