Another D-1 prospect is emerging at Nequa Valley high in Naperville, Ill., 6-foot-5, 280-pound, David Bollweg, has two scholarship offers and several other schools are showing strong interest. Bollweg talks about his offers and current favorites.
“
Eastern Michigan
and
Bowling Green
have offered me a scholarship.”
Dave Bollweg
said. “I’m hearing from most of the Big Ten schools as well as schools in the MAC and the Ivy League.
“The schools I’m most interested in right now are
Duke
,
Northwestern
,
Stanford
,
Wisconsin
, Eastern
Michigan
, Bowling Green and
Purdue
.
"I feel that things have started to take off for me and I’m hoping to get my senior film out as soon as possible.”
Nequa Valley coach Bryan Wells had high praise for Bollweg.
“David is a solid offensive lineman,” Coach Wells said. “I think he’s a carbon copy of
Jeff Radek
, who is verbally committed to Northwestern. Jeff and David are our bookend tackles this year.
“Last spring I felt that Radek probably was better than Bollweg in pass protection but that has changed. David has made great strides in his blocking and he’s becoming a very good all-around offensive lineman.
“David has very good feet. He’s strong and finishes his blocks. I’ve talked to a few college coaches who feel that David is a better prospect than Radek. I know we’re blessed to have both David and Jeff on our team.”
Bollweg told us that he’s been playing organized football since the third grade and he became a full-time starter at Nequa Valley as a junior. David was an all-conference selection in 2006.
Bollweg carries a 3.9 GPA in the classroom and scored 33 on his ACT.
