Travis Benjamin, the 5-foot-11, 160-pound three-star wide receiver from Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, Fla., continues to favor Miami and says the 'Canes lead solidly over Florida, LSU, Tennessee and Ohio State. He claims to have offers from Miami and LSU, as well as Auburn, Central Florida and South Florida.
"Miami is a great program every year and I like the new coaches a lot," Benjamin said. "They seem to be doing good this year and just look a lot more like a team. They've got good team unity."
Benjamin attended the Marshall game on Sept. 1 and says the 'Canes are recruiting him the hardest. "I get calls from them regularly and they send me lots of mail too," he said. "I like their offense and I think I'd fit in well with their system."
He says he hasn't set up any official visits yet and admits that he hasn't really been receiving attention from any other schools besides LSU and Miami. "They are the only ones that have called me," Benjamin said. "I haven't even really been talking with them about taking visits or anything."
Benjamin also attended the Florida/Troy game on Sept. 8. "It was a great experience," he said. "I liked being able to see what the atmosphere there is like and really get a good feel for them."
Although he wasn't there in person, Benjamin watched the Florida/Tennessee game this weekend and was very impressed with the Gators. "They just looked really good," he said. "They've got a good chance to win it all again this year."
Another team that has impressed Benjamin so far this season is LSU. "They are a great team," he said. "They look amazing and are off to a great start. They are beating everybody pretty badly."
Benjamin says he doesn't have a timeframe for making a decision. "I really want a chance to get some early playing time and see what school wants me the most."
Glades Central is off to a great start and is 3-0. Benjamin has scored a total of six touchdowns.
He reports a 2.8 core GPA and a 17 ACT, which he is retaking in October.
