Let's recap some of the news and notes from the East region over the past week. Football season is in full swing as official visits are happening as are commitments and players are narrowing their choices.

After a standout performance at the Herbstreit Challenge Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic fullback/defensive end Dan Vaughan has seen a bevy of new interest including a new pair of offers as Iowa and Pittsburgh stepped forward. Boston College and Kansas State also have begun showing interest. Syracuse was the first to offer Vaughan last fall.

"I really like Pitt because my grandpa and mom went there and my brother is there now," Vaughan said. "But, I'm going to see what happens."

Rutgers University fans were hopeful that Will Hill would pull his best Anthony Davis impression and pick the hometown school over the defending national champion Florida Gators.

Scarlet Knights fans hopes were dashed as Hill chose to pledge his services to the Gators during a nationally televised announcement.

The No. 1 ranked player in the region Terrelle Pryor narrowed his list of schools down from eleven to six.

The final six are Ohio State, Penn State, West Virginia, Florida, Tennessee and Texas. He has scheduled an official visit to Ohio State on Nov. 2

Jordan Todman Burst onto the recruiting scene with a standout performance at the Scout.com combine in New Jersey. He is being recruited at both running back and cornerback and while the 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete prefers to stay on the offensive side of the ball, he is keeping an open mind to both possibilities right now. Purdue became the first program to offer him this week, however more schools are also in constant contact with this explosive athlete.

“Purdue offered and while I don’t know much about them I was impressed with the coach that came into my school and talked to me,” Todman explained. “He seemed like a very good guy and was knowledgeable. There was no specification of which position they wanted me to play, but all we talked about was running back, so I assume that is what they like me as. At this point I have been researching them a bit and know they play in a solid conference in the Big Ten. Right now I plan to take an official visit there for their game against Iowa.”

Maryland, Boise State, Penn State, Syracuse and Boston College are the other schools I have had the most contact with,” Todman added. “Penn State is a school that I am very interested in and an added bonus is that they are very sound academically. Maryland likes me at cornerback and I think Syracuse is just waiting to see how my grades are this marking period at this point. I also like Boston College a lot as well, especially because it is close to home so my family could come see me.”

Another prospect who used a Scout.com combine as his way to show his skills and earn a D-I scholarship is Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway wide receiver/safety Jon Pryor.

Pryor recently decided to commit to Eastern Michigan University.
