Jamal Womble, the 5-foot-10.5, 215-pound three-star running back from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Ariz., has already taken an official visit to Boston College (Sept. 8) and has three other already scheduled.
"The atmosphere at Boston College was great," Womble said. "I love the whole city and the campus. It's a really fun environment and they are having a great season so far. They'll definitely be making a run for the ACC and a BCS bowl."
His player host was Eagles (freshman) wide receiver Ryan Lindsey.
Next up for Womble is a trip to North Carolina on Oct. 5 and he says the Tar Heels are recruiting him the hardest. "I just talk with the coaches the most and they send the most letters."
Womble, ranked the No. 45 running back in the country by Scout.com, was supposed to visit Nebraska on Sept. 15 but was forced to reschedule due to a conflict. "I definitely still want to visit them," he said. "I like them a lot. They've been playing pretty tough and are still a great program with great tradition. I love their history."
The two schools that have impressed Womble the most this season are Wisconsin and South Carolina and he's visiting both of them in November (Badgers on the 10th and Gamecocks on the 24th). "Wisconsin is always dominant and they've been really impressive this year," Womble said.
"South Carolina is also looking pretty good and I think they'll be getting even better," he said.
Womble says he now favors Wisconsin slightly over Boston College, South Carolina, North Carolina and Nebraska. All of his favorites have offered (20 total).
"I'm still really open and I don't know what it is, but there's just something about Wisconsin," he said. "I'm really curious about my visit and can't wait to go and see what it's like. They seem to be a really good program that is always a top team."
Buena High School is 1-3 and Womble has over 700 yards and seven scores on 68 carries.
He reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 1560 SAT (3 sections).
