Interest Heating Up For Schell
Pat Schell
Recruiting Analyst

Pat Schell is starting to see his recruiting pick up a bit as programs have been reviewing his first few game films and the Absecon, N.J., native took one of those opportunities to make a return visit to a familiar school recently for an unofficial visit. While no one has offered Schell yet he certainly has the measurables to be a late-bloomer in recruiting.

Pat Schell had taken a visit on his own to visit a friend at West Virginia a while back, however he never informed the coaching staff that he would be stopping by Morgantown, so he did not get a full taste of what the Mountaineers had to offer. Recently the 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive guard was invited back for a game and took full advantage.

“My return trip down there went great,” Schell explained. “I met with the coaches at 9 am on the field and they took us through the facilities and weight room which were absolutely amazing. One thing I really liked since I am so into weight lifting was that they had an entire nutritional supplement section available for players so you had all the necessary vitamins right there in front of you laid out.”

“After that we went down into the locker room with the players right before the start of the game and everyone, including the coaches, were just absolutely fired up and ready to go into battle,” Schell stated. “It was the most intensity I have ever seen before a football game and it was no surprise that they beat East Carolina like they did. Everything I saw there was great and I’d definitely rate the visit a 10.”

Schell also has other schools showing interest, some new and some old.

Rutgers, Penn State, Pittsburgh, North Carolina State, Michigan State, Michigan and Boston College are the main schools right now. I know some of them are new, particularly the two Michigan schools. Everyone just wants to see film and really likes my strength and athleticism.”

Schell reportedly dead lifts 605 pounds, squats 650 pounds and bench presses 400 pounds. He holds a national bench press record at power lifting camp in Carteret, N.J., for the 16-19 year old age bracket. His Head Coach Bill Walsh says that he can do well over 30 reps at 225 pounds on the bench. He can also dunk a basketball.
