Watching Junior quarterback Clark Evans of Los Alimitos (Calif.), it doesn't take long to find a quarterback to compare him to. How many other quarterbacks in the country run the ball like Mike Alstot and have a good enough arm to play quarterback in college? | |||

I'm always hesitant to use the phrase "next" when talking about any high school player, and I'm not going to do it now. However, watching Los Alamitos' Clark Evans play football on Friday night, it didn't take long to figure out who he most resembled on the college level. After rushing for 230 yards, including a punishing, freight train like run to the goal line, I can only think of one quarterback that runs like a fullback, but has enough of an arm to hurt a team passing, and that's Florida's Tim Tebow. Evans brought his Los Alamitos team back from a 26-13 deficit late in the third quarter with some punishing runs and some timely passes out of the spread offense. He finished the game adding 131 yards passing to his runs, and the timeliness of his passes, including one on fourth down, was a big difference in the game on Friday night (Los Al won 36-24). Evans looks a little bit taller than Tebow, and may not have quite the same speed, but when watching them play the game, the comparison is an easy one to make.
