Florida OL Talks Recruiting
"We're still undefeated at 5-0," Mike Goodman said. "We are coming off a 41-12 win over Miami High, which was a big district win for us." Next up for Goodman and company is Homestead. "We play them on Saturday and that'll be our biggest challenge so far this season," he said. "They have a lot of athletes and are playing well." Goodman is excited to be going up against a team that includes four-star linebacker Marcus Robinson. "I was looking forward to that but coaches I talk to say he's been playing middle linebacker," he said. "I heard that he'll line up at defensive end occasionally. I'm ready for that challenge because competing against great players is what makes you better." Goodman, 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds, is still a major college prospect. He talked about the recruiting process. "I'm still sticking to my plan of not scheduling any visits until after the season," he said. "I'm trying to stay healthy and help my team win." The talented big man said he talks to a number of schools on a weekly basis. "I stay in contact with a lot of colleges," he said. "I don't let it overwhelm me, though. I'm talking to Wisconsin, Central Florida, Boston College, Ole Miss, Miami, Maryland, Kentucky, and Florida State." He mentioned two schools that were on his list earlier in the year that have dropped off. "I lost interest in Wake Forest and I haven't spoken to Florida in awhile," he said. "It's been a few weeks since I talked to Coach Holliday." Goodman spoke about some of the schools he's talking to regularly. Boston College -- "I knew from the beginning that they were going to be successful this season. I was very pleased on my visit. The coaching staff there is making a statement. They have something special going on up there. They're going to continue winning. The kids they recruit are strong in the classroom as well. I talked to the wide receivers coach and Coach Jags weekly. He's the only head coach I talk to each week. I still have family up there too." Miami -- "I've been to a couple UM games and I'm going to the Georgia Tech game this week. I talk to Coach Stoutland each week. I can't really say what's been going on. They have the potential to win every game. I like Coach Shannon and his discipline. They're definitely going in the right direction under him." Wisconsin -- "I've been watching them as well. They're a real disciplined, organized team. They lost to Illinois but you can't win them all. Their players are dedicated and I like the coaches." UCF -- "They're doing pretty well. I like Coach Kelly and they have a lot of new things going on there."
