Nick Raven, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback from North Pocono High School camped at Notre Dame this summer and recently took a visit to watch Rutgers take on Cincinnati in New Jersey. He is also hearing from programs like Connecticut, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Stanford, Buffalo and Boston College early in the process. “The stadium at Rutgers is pretty nice and the coaching staff really treats the players and the recruits very well,” Raven stated. “The team was extremely pumped up for the game and the atmosphere there was great as people were there hours before the game kicked off. I met with a few of the coaches who were all very friendly and while we didn’t have enough time to see the facilities and campus I did think it was a good visit overall.” “I was also invited up to Buffalo for some games, but none of the dates have worked out with my high school schedule so far,” Raven explained. “Vanderbilt is one of the schools that I am interested in early because my cousin starts at short stop for their baseball team and has nothing but great things to say about them. I also like Penn State a lot and while I haven’t heard from them I did send them film recently.” Raven took over the starting quarterback role at mid-season for North Pocono as a sophomore and threw for 356 yards and two touchdowns while adding 123 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. He was the only sophomore to earn non-special team duties for North Pocono in 2006. He has been timed at 4.6 in the 40-yard dash, 4.55 in the short shuttle and benches 150 pounds 15 times. He also claims a broad jump of 9-foot-6.5 and a vertical leap of 31 inches. Raven maintains a 3.5 core GPA while participating in the honors program. |
