The new Scout.com National 300 has been revised. The 300 is the top 300 prospects in the nation. These are all the prospects that are assigned five and four-stars in the Scout.com prospect ranking system. Players 1-50 receive five stars while players ranked 51-300 receive four stars. If you are a prospect that doesn’t make the Scout.com National 300 then you will receive three or two stars.

Who were the movers and shakers in this 300? Defensive tackle Omar Hunter (Buford, Ga.) went from No. 159 to No. 56. Running back Chris Polk (Redlands, Calif.) was in the original 300 back in the summer but was not in our most recent version in August. Now he appears at No. 96. Defensive tackle Lawrence Guy (Las Vegas, Nev.) moved from No. 114 to No. 53. Wide receivers Tommy Streeter (Miami, Fla.) and Cody Bruns (Prosser, Wa.), running backs Curtis McNeal (Venice, Calif.) and Jermaine Thomas (Jacksonville, Fla.), and linebacker Anthony Lewis (Houston, Texas) are some propsects that made some big moves.

The state of Texas led the way with 40 prospects, followed by California (37) and Florida (34).

There are 162 offensive prospects on the 300 and 128 defensive players. The position with the most prospects on the 300 is defensive linemen with 53 while the position with the least is quarterback with 16. In fact, defensive and offensive linemen (46) almost comprise one third of the 300.

The college team with the most committed players on the 300 is Notre Dame with 15. USC, UCLA and Texas all have 13 while Michigan had 12. Miami, Florida State, Alabama and Oklahoma each have 10 and Texas A&M, Georgia and Ohio State have nine apiece.

Tomorrow, Scout.com will begin to release our regional 100s with the Southeastern Top 150 and the East Top 100. On Thursday, Scout.com will release the Southwest Top 100 and the Midwest Top 100. On Friday, we will release the West 150 and the Midlands Top 100.
