Geordon Hanohano, the 6-foot-2, 265-pound, four-star defensive tackle from St. Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, has six scholarship offers, but hasn't set up any official visits yet.
"I'll do it as soon as our football season is over," Hanohano said. "I'm looking to be comfortable and feel at home where I go. I want to meet the people and make sure they are open and friendly like the people in Hawaii."
Although Hanohano says he's open to getting away from home, he admits that the Warriors being less than two hours away is a plus. "I've actually kind of always wanted to play in front of the home crowd," he said. "But I've also thought about wanting to get off the island. Right now I'm still pretty open, but Hawaii probably is my top school. I think the program is great and they are a rising team. They'll be a top team for a while."
He said he favors the Warriors slightly over Utah, Arizona, Washington, UNLV, San Diego State and New Mexico State. All of his favorites have offered except Washington.
"They (Washington) said they were going to offer me during the summer, but now they say they want to see some of my games this year. I'm putting together some film this season and will be sending that out."
Hanohano's first scholarship offer was from New Mexico State during the summer. He says now however that Arizona is actually recruiting him the hardest.
"Arizona has a few players from Hawaii already and I really like the coaches," he said. "They are all really nice and make me feel wanted. Their coach said that I'd be able to make an impact there and that's a team that I think will be really good in the next few years."
Hanohano is ranked as the No. 24 defensive tackle in the country by Scout.com.
St. Louis High School is off to another great start and has a 7-0 record. Hanohano has over 20 tackles and 10 sacks. He says he can bench press 350 pounds and has a 385 pound squat.
"I can play anywhere on the line and I have great vision and see what's going on the whole time," he said. "I'm really strong and have good get off speed. I have good footwork too, but I feel that I can still improve on everything. I really want to get to the ball faster."
Hanohano runs the 40-yard dash in 5.05 seconds.
He reports a 2.8 core GPA and took the SAT for the second time on Oct. 6. "I was pretty close on the first one."
